Default Power Loss - Boost doesn't go higher than 0.4

Hey there!

I had a problem with my starter on 2007 Cayenne Turbo and the car stayed with a drained battery for a few days. When they finally fixed my starter, everything started to work great. Only after i drive for a few minutes, car losses half of its power and the boost gauge doesn't move past 0.4 mark. When i turn the car off and start again it work nicely for some time and then goes into a slow mode again.

Guys at the workshop say that it might be due to the loss of adaptations and that this kind of behavior should disappear once the car drive for 200-300 miles and re-educates itself.

Is it possible? Or should i start worrying and look for deeper into the problem? Among the faulty codes i have P1248, but this code has been ON for quite some time now and i have never had any problems with losing power.

Sounds like a boost leak to me. Any other fault codes?

My Cayenne experience doesn't go that far back. Was there a limp mode in 2007?

XR4Tim,

Boost leak seems unlikely to me. Car behaves like normal for the first couple of minutes of driving. The boost gauge goes as high as 1.2-1.3 bar (it has an ECU remap) and i can feel that kick in the back everytime. In fact, it seems like it has become even more powerful than before they fixed the starter which may or may not be just a subjective feeling. After that, it kinda gets into a limp mode. And, grohgreg, i am not sure if such mode was available 2007 Cayennes. It is a Facelift, btw.

Oh, and no - no other fault codes. They said that camshaft angles are a bit off, but it has been like that for a long time.

I am thinking maybe techs at the workshop screwed up something during the starter replacement? From what i understand, to replace the starter, one has to first remove the intakes.

I have another scheduled visit tomorrow. Before i go there, i have a few thoughts i wanted to share:

The last time i was at the workshop, they didn't find any reasons for the car to fo into the limp mode. Although, they found a "rich mixture" faulty code. Considering that they only replaced the starter and the car started to go into the limp mode and rich mixture faulty appeared only after that visit, what may have caused that? I am thinking that since they need to take off the intake manifold, is it possible that it became leaky and now the car can't calculate the mixture properly? May a rich mixture be the cause for a limp mode?

I would assume that it's a result of something done during the starter replacement. An intake manifold leak would normally cause a lean condition under vacuum, and a rich condition under boost. So that's a possibility.

If he is from Europe, then the MY may be determined at the time of sale vs. build date.
Cut the guy some slack.

These seem like honest questions and not a troll.

To the OP, Porsche skipped Cayenne production in MY2007 to prepare for the Gen-2 vehicles.
