When you get them folded, note that there are holes for stowing the headrests on the exposed top of the raised seat bottoms

Reach back, behind the seat latch and use your index finger to push the latch pin UP from behind the striker post. Be careful and quickly release your finger, once the seat begins to move forward....or else the tight space will entrap your finger!

Sometimes some oil down the catch and then a pair of pliers on to "help" works

Default Removing rear headrests to fold rear seats down - Cayenne S 2006.

Read the manual and the forums - still couldn’t budge the headrests. Button movement at base of headrest almost non-existent. Squirt of WD40 into button area and down chrome rest rods - hey presto came out easily. Don’t think the seats have ever been folded down in its 11 year life. Previous owner disabled apparently.

Piggybacking on the thread, I have a related question. No matter what I do, how I fold them, I cannot seem to keep the seat belt buckles from damaging the leather. Four 955's and have folded the seats down on all of them many times and I just don't get it. I just leatherique the hell out of the leather when I'm done and try to not leave them folded down any longer than possible. But it must be some stupid simple detail in the process to secure the buckles that I'm just not getting.

Lay a terry cloth towel over all three folding seatbelt receivers BEFORE the seatback goes down. Never lat the rear seats, without folding UP the bottoms.

Always fold up the bottoms, and I do a towel or cloth always. It still puts and indentation in the leather every single time. I keep the leather supple enough that it hasn't punctured, but I really, really don't like it. Guess it's just a **** poor design.

That's exactly what it is. My Vega hatchback from 40 years ago had a better folding design. Had to laugh when I couldn't remove the headrests without moving the seats part way forward because they'd hit the roof.

When I was shopping for a Cayenne, I instantly passed on many because of punctured leather in the back.
The buckle receivers fold down when you do things by the manual, yet there are still indentations when you put things back up.

What kills me is when I put tge drivers rear bottom up and seat back down, it puts me all up on the steering wheel and Im only about 6' tall. One of the few things I hate about the Cayenne...

I'm 5'7" and it's tight. Found if I don't put the headrests in the storage holes, I get a few more inches for the front seats.

Having an airbag go off would not turn out well.
