Default PCM Factory Phone Question with Mobridge Bluetooth, ipod, aux

Please be gentle! - I realise there are 1,000 threads on Mobridge on this forum and I have been through many of them but I'm still short on answers.

I have a 2004 Cayenne S with a PCM 2 (CD) with the phone buttons and SIM tray. I'm in Australia where (I believe) the phone was always an option, but my car did not come with this option. Hence when I push the phone button, I simply get the message "phone not available".

Now my bright idea was to get a Mobridge with Bluetooth so I could use my phone buttons and have bluetooth etc. However, even after connecting up my Mobrigde and pairing my iphone 4S, I still get "phone not available" message when I push the TEL button.

My question. - Is this just a case of getting my phone coded "on" in order for my Mobridge Bluetooth to work? Is there more to getting the phone to turn "on" than just coding? Because the phone was an option in this country, would some extra module be required in order to get my Bluetooth to function? I don't want to use the factory SIM based system, just my Mobridge Bluetooth through the PCM.

I live 5 hours from any Porsche dealers so I want to make sure that coding is my answer. Don't like wasting my time with dealers....!

Any help would be appreciated. Here is a pic of my PCM and a few other bits:

I cleared all the data off my old iphone and loaded it up with music - works well! The second connector is a charger which I hard-wired whilst doing the Mobridge install.

Well at least your close to the manufacturer lol

The 04 phone option did not automatically come with a phone prep kit installed to my knowledge but thats as far as I can remember but it my be a starting point.

Have you tried asking Fibredyne ? Contact is Jullian

Thanks for your reply mudman. Julian at Fibredyne has been very helpful so far. He has suggested to get the phone coded "on" as a starting point. It is difficult for me to get to a dealer, so if there is more to this problem than just coding, I would like to try and solve it before visiting the dealer.

No worries. I'll post the result for future reference. The Porsche dealers in Sydney are not so helpful......you all know what I'm talking about. I just want to be 100% sure that my phone will work when coded "on" rather than the dealer tell me " Sorry mate, it can't be done" or "You don't have phone prep so it won't work" or "We don't touch cars with aftermarket units". I do my own work on all my vehicles....I'm sure that won't sit well with the P dealer!

I want to be able to push my cause when I bring in my Cayenne. If they aren't helpful, then I won't consider that Panamera in the showroom....

Hi. Realise this thread was a few years back but I'm having the same problem.

Mobridge installed, and working but only via the cd button. Phone buttons dont activate or do anything to the phone. The origional car phone module does work when a sim is inserted.

How do I get it to my phone when paired via bluetooth to show up under the telephone screen? Do I need to get the factory phone coded off?

Thanks in advance.

I ultimately got the phone coded "on" and the cd stacker coded "off" at an independent. Phone now works perfectly via the phone buttons with full bluetooth function, that is, phone will interupt radio when a call comes through etc. I can also dial from the contacts on the bluetoothed phone. Signal strength and telco etc are shown in the displays.
I never had the phone module, just all the phone buttons including the sim tray (which obviously you don't need with bluetooth).
The mobridge just emulates the phone module and it does a good job.
I nolonger got the notorious start up error once the coding was done.
Maybe if you disconnect the phone module on your car, the mobridge could take over? The bottom line is I needed the phone coded "on" to make it all work, so a little different from your situation.

Everything has to be coded correctly and in order. Several of us have gone through this with multiple trips to the dealer to correct. The other issue is that the 957 is a real challenge with the Porsche PIWIS. For some reason, from '08-'10, had a different computer and the newer Porsche testers are very slow to connect and make changes.

Cheers,
TomF

The independent gave up using the Porsche PIWIS as it kept on hanging doing the process (I was sitting in the car with him at the time). He used non-Porsche coder instead. My independent is a long time Porsche specialist, so luckily he had a few different coders.

Hey guys, sorry to resurrect an old thread.
I'm shopping around for a few 2009 Cayenne's, none of which come with the Bluetooth option.

Is there a solid kit I can install to my PCM and have it add phone bluetooth capability like it came from dealer/OEM. I am mostly concerned with being able to make and answer calls through the factory system; I am not too overly concerned with being able to play Music through bluetooth, as I am old school and still listen to CDs.

The 957s I am looking at have PCM w/NAV/SAT radio, and option UF1 - Universal Audio Interface (whatever that means?). Can someone point me in the right direction please? I have no idea where/what to purchase, or which part(s) I need. I tried googling & searching here but all I get is A LOT of confusing info, which gives me anxiety attacks, lol.

Thanks in advance for the help!!!!
