Cayenne S: Air suspension shocks

Hello all: Was wondering where is the best source (cheapest) to get new or remanufactured air suspension shocks.

Is Arnott the best option?

Thank you in advance.

First do you have air suspension that isn't working or are you trying to add it? If the former there are several threads online about how to refurb. If the latter then you are sh!t out of luck.. It can't be added because your wiring harness does not include the option to interface with the hardware.

Thanks! No, my Cayenne already has it and I believe the front shock bladder is damaged...at least I think it is...

When I go over a some uneven surface it sounds exactly like a "bad shock" (like the regular shocks)

Any tips on how to properly diagnose?

I will post some pics.

Thank you

I did the Arnott bags on my wifes Allroad, good results.

Looking for a replacement right front (passenger side) air suspension for a 2004. Apparently getting a single new replacement causes some mis-match/upgrade issues ... and forces you to replace in pairs. Hoping to find a single right ft to get it done cheaper than $4k+. My mechanic tried arnott, but somehow they blew up (which some others have experienced also here) shortly after installation and test drive.

So if anyone has a lead on a used unit pls let me know.

thx

It could be worn bushings. Does your air suspension operate correctly other than the noise you described?

Although PAG say replace in pairs, I replaced singly with no problem on the S. My rebuild was done by the dealer for $800 per side (over a 4 year period)

Not sure how you can tell that you have a bad strut tho, until it bursts

Dennis, thank you for your suggestion.

The suspension works perfectly, goes up and down - does not go down overnight - so no leakage.

I took some pictures, dont know if you can see anything.

If the noise is coming from the any of bushings, which ones should I replace? the 4 from the A-arm (2 on top and 2 below)?

Thank you all for your suggestions.

The noise is coming from the PASSENGER (right) side...

Since the suspension operates normally, then I would rule out a shock. If a bladder were torn, then a fault would appear or the pump would likely run continuously with handling being compromised.

To Dennis' point, the lower control arm bushings on the 955 series are notorious for failure. They are fluid filled and fail after about 50k miles. I'm on my second replacement set at 90k miles.

They are about $400 each and will require an alignment.

The easy way to tell if they are failed is to look at the rear mounting point of the lower control arm and see if the bushings appear oval. If so, then the bushings are likely at fault.

Fantastic, thank you very much Targa, I will take a look tonight and then post the pictures.

The car is in fact pulling to the right...so it could be that bushing.

Do you mean the 2 bushings between the control arm (A-arm) and the car?

Do you mean this?

The entire control arm with the bushings can be bought in Germany for a little over 120 USD.

or you can buy just the cheap bushings if you have access to a press to put them in
