When were the first Cayennes completed?
Anyone know when the first Cayennes were completed? My 03 Turbo's "birth date" (ie final assembly date) is 1/15/03. Seems like it would be one of the first since that was 2 months before launch. Overall I have few problems. Wonder if the assembly line was moving slowly then? Just curious when the first production vehicles were made -- maybe mine was the first?! ;-)

I believe they were launched in Germany on December 7th. I'm guessing that offical production started about two months before that. I seem to recall the first Cayenne off the assembly line being a ceremonial affair with Schroeder tightening the last lugnut. Does anyone else remember this?

GM Austin is correct. The production started around August last year. The ceremony was held on August 23th.
Official launch in Germany, Austria and Switzerland was December 7th, 2002. (I've ordered my "S" with air suspension two weeks after the launch here in Switzerland and am still waiting for a confirmed production date!!)
