Post Heater 7VE, being sent back? Getting another TT

Found this on another board

FY... Cayennes that were shipped or schedule to ship to US for April/May delivery will be delayed by 1-2 months if you have option 7VE (parking heater w/timer) on it. I guess porsche needs to get a separate certification from EPA for this option...

For those that have experienced problems any recommendations for recourse, short of buying something else.

I am scheduled to go on vacation to S.C. the end of May to Wild Dunes and hit, and also visit the Biltmore Estate.

Hey, Wild Dunes it right down the road from me. I'm on Isle of Palms. Where are you coming in from?

Chicago, at this rate will be in a rental car. I may have a buyer for my car this week!

As of my last conversation, last week they told me 2-3 weeks and would rent me a car when mine sells. Should I change the deal since it may be 4 to 8 weeks or longer if the EPA says no to option?

Well this isn't frustrating or anything is it? They offer the option and take orders before it's actually certified? The same thing happened with the Sport Exhaust for the 03 Boxsters. Seems like bad planning on Porsche's part.

Dawktah:

I would certainly press the dealer to put you in a rental at their cost or a service loaner. When their profit is shrinking everyday it's amazing how fast they can make things happen. Is it possible that the core heater could be added after?? Hopefully you won't need it until next winter. To me the EPA is a joke as they have to certify a core heater but allow all of us to drive vehicles that rival the gas consuption of models from back in the '60s and '70s. <img border="0" alt="[oops]" title="" src="graemlins/oops.gif" />

It is truly becoming the most irritating issue. I placed a deposit years ago and was number 3 at my dealership. By the time I receive my truck I might as well have ordered it at the launch. I seriously thought I would have at least 1,000 miles on it by now. Good bye break in period!

On the other hand, no four zone A/C, no burr wood. I opted out of the entry and drive for the parking heater and now I am regretting that decision, well probably until December.

I spoke to my dealer and they did agree to pay for a rental. I think at least discounting the cost of the parking heater is a must.

Why is the parking heater that important? I live in Toronto and never needed something like that. If you park after you run the car, you can use the Residual Heating function up to 20 minutes even if the car is not running.

Is this something that you will use before you get in to the car in cold mornings?

Both, it will keep inside warm for up to 20 minutes while engine is off. Also is rumored to pre-heat oil before starting for faster warm up. I guess some sequence with remote to start it.

Still sitting in port paperwork not finialized.

The deal fell through on my sale, so should I just get the rental/service loaner on G.P. or work another deal?

Called another local dealer and he informs me that no Cayenne will be shipped to U.S. with this option and all that are in port are to be sent back to Germany.

PCNA customer service confirmed hold by EPA, however had no final info?

Can anyone verify this?
