Frustrated - Ceramic Brake Pads - 368mm - MY08-10 Cayenne Turbo
 

I did all of my homework, yet still coming up short. Having a VERY hard time find a good set of ceramic brake pads for MY08 Cayenne Turbo due to the upgraded stock brakes on this MY.

I wanted to go with Hawk, whereas they list 2 different pad numbers as compatible. However, both were not compatible :mad:

Of the two threads I found that were related, both people aborted their search and put on the much more expensive / non-ceramic OEM pads. Stock Part # 955.351.939.62 .

I have a new set of stainless steel brake lines, Castrol SRF brake fluid, and a Motive Brake Flush System just waiting for this to get sorted out.

Does anyone know if any good options (besides OEM) for the 368mm rotors standards on the 08-10 Cayenne Turbos?

Note: These are the bottom-mount pads for the red calipers. Minimum 18" wheel clearance.

Update: Aftermarket pads are available from EBC and Carbotech. Part numbers can be found here for all options found in US.

2009-10 Turbos have different brakes than the 2008. In 2009, they adopted the brakes from the 2008 Turbo Power Kit as standard. This may be the key to your fitment issue. I'll look around and see if I can find a correct set of pads.

Great. Thanks for the help. I didn't know the MY09-10 got the 380mm Turbo S brakes. I thought the only appreciable difference from the MY08 was the newer PCM version.

If it helps, they have also resumed using this caliper in the Panamera. I believe both the Turbo and GTS are using the calipers.

It looks like most of the aftermarket companies' catalogs aren't quite accurate. Textar does make a brake pad set for the '08 Turbo, but it's OEM replacement, rather than for performance. It looks like EBC Yellowstuff pads DP41835R are correct as well, since EBC lists a different part number for '09-'10.

Early Panameras do use the same brakes, but there is a VIN split, and the later Panameras use different brakes, making it all the more difficult to determine whose catalogs are correct.

Thanks, that is very helpful! I looked into it and it seems to be the right pad. I was hoping they had a set of EBC Redstuff pads instead, however, it looks like the EBC yellowstuff is the only alternative.

I know this is their track compound (Kevlar) with slight street use. Do you know how it will compare to the Hawk ceramics?

FWIW, I think most people are hyper-sensitive to brake squeal, so unless it is exponentially louder, I am not worried about it. Just need good initial bite and manageable brake dust. Preferably, minimal dust.

I have no personal experience with either Yellowstuff or Hawk pads. I did buy Hawk pads for one of my previous cars, but sold the car before I put them on. Looking at EBC's chart, the Yellowstuff pads have a high dust rating, which they say means the same or slightly more dust than OEM pads. I think you are right regarding brake squeal, and being that the Cayenne has noisier brakes than most passenger cars, I doubt high-performance pads will be much noisier, if at all.

The term "famous last words" comes to mind here.

My OE brakes (just an S) only squeal occasionally (very minimal) but they're near the end of their life. I'll need to replace in about 5k mi.

I think I might try the yellowstuff pads and take my chances with the initial bite and brake dust, over the OEM Pagid pads. Do you happen to have a link or part number for the matching EBC Rear Yellowstuff? Having a hard time finding it online since the EBC website is horribly dysfunctional. For instance, in their compatibility selector, they do not even list Porsche as a manufacturer. Despite having the correct front pads.

I tried to call them as well, but they do not have a number listed online.

DP41474R is the rear pad set. We have their catalog here at work.

Thanks... That is interesting b/c on that same site I came up with part number DP41836R as the rear set and verified it on another third party site.

Are you 100% on your part number? Just want to make sure this is the final reorder.

These catalog inconsistencies sure are confusing and frustrating :(

Sorry, your number is correct. I'm not sure how I came up with the other part number.
Edit: I was looking at 2009 when I got that part number. DP41836R is correct.

Amazon also lists as the rear for the Cayenne Turbo 08 only for Yellowstuff
