Default My first Porsche! Picked up an 08 GTS but have a small issue

Hey all,

Lurked here for a long, long time, always wanted a 911 but it just doesn't fit the lifestyle and the garage just yet. Wife and I just bought an 08 GTS, black/black pano roof, 21" sport design wheels, etc...

One thing we noticed on the drive home after picking up the car, is that the gauges are very very dim. The brightness dial is turned all the way up, the needles, LCD panels, and main console are all the correct brightness but the gauges seem very dull. Now it does have the aluminum gauge faces, but even at night, they are barely legible. Is this right? Or is there something broken? Havent had good light to check all the fuses yet, but assuming everything else works, I'd think that wasn't the issue.

Thanks!

Looks dark to me, mine are more than adequate in poor light.

I'm guessing the aluminum gauge faces are not OEM and just aren't letting the light through properly...

That is too dim. I would get the instrument light illumination rheostat replaced as a start. Before doing so, check your battery voltage to make sure that your electrical system is functioning properly.

Can the dimming switch make them more dim, or constant illumination?

Just checked mine, that looks about the same level as mine on minimum brightness.

Aluminium gauge faces?

Thanks guys. The illumination rheostat does adjust its brightness, but that is as bright as it goes. What color should the gauge numbers and ticks light up, orange?

I will check the fuse as well, it almost looks like the lighting it has, is just ambient lighting from the other functions and the gauge lighting itself is busted.

I thought the gauges were OEM, they look OEM and I do have the aluminum trim package which has the matte aluminum coloured spoiler and side mirrors.
