I'm a dumbass!

I decided to change the front brakes on my Cayenne today. Everything was going fine when I managed to puncture the out left front CV joint boot. Don't ask.

My question is... Can my mechanic change out the rubber boot? Or do I have to buy a whole new axle?

Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thx

Sure you can. Part #955 349 904 00 is all you need. It comes as a kit with everything you need.

If your good with hand tools and know how to properly use a torque wrench you can do it yourself and save some coin.

.......but then again you did put a hole in a perfectly good boot:D

Will changing the CV boot require removal of the wheel hub for the Cayenne? The axle bolt will require 'some' torque.

Rebuild kit was $45. I'm having my mechanic do the job. I do have all the tools to do the job myself but I need my CS this weekend for a trip to Vegas. My mech quoted me $250. Not bad. I thought it was going to cost me a whole new axle. WHEW!

Indy's are great. My indy (Precision Motion) just quoted me a good price on fluids and labor for the differentials, transfer case, and transmission.

Just curious what they quoted? I just changed my Front/Rear Diffs and Transfer case and it was a breeze...Going to change the transmission fluid next week.
