They are identical, and no - not particularly easy to get to (R&R of the MAF's is required to move the covers so you can get to the filters, then refitting the covers is a bid fiddly.) On a scale of 1-10 (1 being brain-dead-simple, 10 being don't go there) - about a 3-4.

BTW - good prices on them and the cabin filter from Amazon. Get MANN filters - they are OEM for Porsche.

Those cover clips are a bugger as they always lose their tension.
A small screwdriver helps pry out the inner tab to bring it back to where it should be.

Jfranz71, The fillers that you are looking at on Amazon are for the interior A/C venting system filler. They are NOT for the engine intake..... here is one supplier that has them www.autohausaz.com

AutohausAZ is a good source for both the cabin and (2) engine filters.
If I were you, since you're going to be removing the MAF's anyhow go ahead an get a can of MAF (spray) Cleaner and give them a quick spray. ONLY USE DESIGNATED MAF CLEANER, NOTHING ELSE.

Hardest part for me is getting the lower filter cover tabs back in their correct slots when reassembling. Other than that it's a piece of cake but it does take about 1/2 hr to do both.

I just changed mine yesterday on my 2004 CT, and it is truly a PITA on that one, as there's this pipe coming out of the one on the left that must be disconnected, and reconnected. Takes me an hour to do both filters, and I've done it a few times. Bought mine from Amazon -- went with FRAM, about $15 ea, and will replace the cabin A/C filter this weekend -- about a 15 min job -- also bought from Amazon -- Bosch brand. Amazon is a great place for these parts, as the prices are usually good, free shipping, saves a trip to the dealer, and they have an easy to use fitment application.

Personally not a fan of Fram filters. I'll stick with the OEM filters.

Default 20 minute job tops

The second time that is.
Not a big deal at all, just don't drop anything into the engine compartment or your time increase greatly.
Might as well do the spark plugs while your in there.
I would NOT recommend spraying the MAF sensors with anything at all.

Just did this a couple of weeks ago. Not hard to get the filters out it's getting the new ones in that is a pain. Getting the covers lined up again took me forever. Just be patient. But overall the process is not difficult. I have a 2008 CS.

As far as I can tell, you have two choices to remove the filter covers:

1. Unclip the electrical connector from the MAF, loosen the hose clamp on the MAF, unclip the two top clips on the filter cover, push the MAF hose of and out of the way, and pull the cover up with MAF attached.

2. Turn the two Torx screws on the filter cover 180 degrees from where the tabs on them normally line up, unclip the two top clips on the cover, and pull the cover up (separating it from the MAF inlet).

I went with 1. and cleaned the MAFs with some MAF cleaner spray while I had them out.

On the 957's you don't have to remove the MAF's to replace the air filters. Just remove the (2 each side) plastic retaining pins and you can separate the air filter canister from the inlet air duct. On the passenger side air filter housing you will also need to remove the (smaller) round fitting on the back side, that can be tricky unless you know how it uncouples. Slide the green (I think) cover off and then squeeze the two sections of the fitting together while sliding the coupling off. I believe JohnneyBahamas has a post with a drawing showing the procedure.

It's actually far easier/quicker than the 955's.
