Automatic 2011 Cayenne Stalling
I recently purchased a new 2011 Porsche Cayenne in Hong Kong and it every once in a while it stalls.(First day driving the car and its has stalled 4 times through out the day) At first I thought it was the stop/start function but the car engine completely turns off and multiple warning lights come up. They're the same lights that come up when you turn the ignition from slot 0 to 1, 2 being the actual ignition of the car. I've googled the problem and I've come up with numerous post of people having the same problem but no solution! Is there anyone that has an answer to this?
PS. I apologize if im talking in circles. Reading this over it just sounds like I'm saying its stalling in different ways. Oh also the oil light popped up and its only at 300 miles.

Check with your dealer and make sure that your car is not affected by the recall/upgrade to the new engine computer. Cayenne V8's and Turbos built at the end of 2010 and beginning of 2011 had this potential problem. Mine was one of them and delivery of my CS was held up untill it was fixed. Your problem could be something different, but it sounds suspiciously similar. Check out this link for more info on the recall.

I just had that exact same thing happen to me a couple times last night. The first, and most alarming was when I was driving home, made a left turn, and the car to completed stalled (and all the dashboard lights lit up as @sakain has described). I was mighty surprised at first to have lost power as it was in the middle of crossing an intersection and thankfully there weren't any approaching vehicles. Brought the car to a stop on the opposite site of the intersection, turned off the car, started it and all was well. The second incident happen about 5 mins later (similarly). I refilled gas to top it off and the problem didn't occur for the rest of the ride home. Nonetheless, it was very irritating and potentially dangerous.
Will drive it again today to see if the problem recurs. Meanwhile, spoke to my service dealer and he's looking up to see if there are any actions to be taken as it's the first time he's heard of this issue. Thankfully (though not for the OP), someone else witnessed this issue also so I'm not in solo territory here.
@Mike, thanks, I will forward along the recall/upgrade linked to in your post. Much appreciated.

Well, so far, the problem didn't happen again over the weekend. At one point, it felt like the car might have been straining when I was moving relatively slowly and making a hard left turn. It stuttered but didn't stop. I'm going to test it out in a parking lot when I can find the time later this week to see if I can reproduce the issue.

same problem 2011 cayenne s stalling out
Hello, I'm having the same problem with my Cayenne 2011 S model...beautiful and fun, but I've stalled twice with only 800 miles. Bought it in the beginning of July and the dealer has had it twice for extended periods of time, can't find anything wrong and can't get it to duplicate the problem. Has your dealer found a solution?
Stalled while making a left at an intersection, stalled again while at a 4-way stop sign...if I remember correctly it didn't stall until I hit the gas to go. Quite dangerous.

Keep that function off
I was thinking about the auto stop...but I always keep that function off. The mechanic has said he's checked EVERYTHING. The dealer asked me to call Porsche's main number and get someone to work on it with them, that was a waste of time. She actually told me to talk to the dealer about returning it?!
I was hoping that someone with the same problem would've found a solution. I'll post here if we find one!

Hey Guys. Ditto on this problem our V6/Automatic 2011 Cayenne has started doing the same thing. Will stall upon selecting D, broke down in traffic and refused to move for a bit. Anyone found a solution to this problem?

nycebo,
I got the same problem on my 2012 Cayenne Turbo. I happened a week ago. I took it to the Dealer and they could not find anything wrong. Do you still have the Dealer invoice for the fix of your car? I need it to show ti to my Dealer so they know how to fix the car.
Thanks

@hammy113, I didn't keep the invoice for the service. However, just make sure that your car has the latest ECU and PCM update and it should resolve the problem. Also, out of curiosity, you might try turning off Porsche 'Active Safe'.
