CD changer install on '06 Titanium Edition (with Bose)

The truck has the CD-Changer cables run to the rear right quarter where the changer bracket is also installed. Found both. An optical cable assembly (with two cables going to one plug) and an electrical cable assembly.

I "won" (buy-it-now actually) a changer from an '04 Cay on Ebay. It's PN: 997.645.140.03, and Version PA149D.

According to PET - the PN is good for this VIN.. so I'm looking forward to installing it. Hopefully no additional parts will be needed (the service info bulletin on installing it shows it as a basic plug-in and go install.)

My question is - will I need to visit Porsche to get it activated in the PCM 2.1 system before it will work?

TIA! :bigbye:

95% sure you will have to if the car has not had one in the past.

Everything I have read is just what gwells67 just said, you will have to get it Piwis coded for the changer at the dealership if it didn't have a changer before.

I installed a dension in mine and it went in fine without the need of coding. Seems like you are pre-wired for cd changer so it should be ok and not need anything else.

I should report back - installed a CDC4 - plugged it in and it worked. If I look at the system with a DuraMetric - version 6 - diagnostics, there is an error message related to the CD changer, but it works just fine. Didn't need to do anything but plug it in (and the Cayenne wasn't delivered with one..)

05/06 were pre wired and the changer is the only thing on the beast that is plug and play. However the agro of fitting a CDC seems a little old school when and ipod interface would have been much better overall. i am just sayin

I have an 06 CTTS as well without the CDC. I want to install the Dension 500SBT with music and bluetooth. Can I do this without going to to the dealership to activate the CDC? Also - where can I install the 500SBT? Thanks.

I did. I have both the changer (useless now that I have the Dension) and the Dension 500.. no dealer activation was required.

Easiest place to install the 500 is going to be at the changer connect point in the rear starboard compartment. There is power available for it, and the fiber is easily accessible. Mine is mounted up front (since I retained the changer, which required running long fibers from the front), and it's a PITA to mount there. When you buy the 500 - also order the extension for the iPod cable, you can thread it up under the carpeting and into the center console cubby so your iPod can live there (if you're going the iPod route.)
