Is a CPO warranty worth $2K?
I posted last week that I was interested in an CPO'd 08 GTS...feedback from the forum indicated that I can probably do a little better on price...
So I widened my search and found a well equipped 08 TT with 31K miles. Apparently, according to the sales man, the vehicle received the CPO inspection, but they haven't "placed" the certification on the vehicle. I was quoted $2K for the additional warranty.
Current warranty expires 5/11; CPO would extend to 5/13. Mileage isn't a concern as I won't hit 50K by May 2011 or 100K by May 2013.
So my question is...should I spend the +$2K for the CPO warranty?
Thanks-

+1. 100%. Best $2K you'll spend.
Promise us if you buy it, you'll start (and update) a thread with every fix done under warranty in the next 2.5 years. I call 12/2011 as the break-even month.

Wow! This doesn't make me feel very confident in the reliability of these things...

Thanks. There appears to be universal consensus that the warranty is worth the $. With that, please let me know your thoughts on the vehicle:
08 CTT Meteor Grey orver Stone/Steel, as mentioned 31K miles. Options include:
19"Cayenne Design Wheels
PDCC
Roll up sunshades
Rear Camera w/park assist
Light comfort Package
XM Radio
4-zone AC
Crested Heaqdrests
Soft look leather
Porsche Entry & Drive
Phone Module for PCM
Gloss Light Wood Package
Fllor Mats
Fire Extinguisher
Preferred Package
MSRP $109,910
Sales price $56,500 w/o CPO
W/CPO $58,500
Seems like a reasonable deal to me. Interested in the thoughts of the experts.

Only third-party warranties from Hawaii cover psychotherapy...
Re: the $2,000 going fast - I think everyone on here has probably run into something each year that was a doozie. So you're getting a cut-rate deal on a warranty that will let you sleep well at night, while the rest of us don't. If I could pay $3K right now to CPO mine for another 2 years/50K miles, I would.
The vehicle is awesome...but requires a bit of care and feeding. Loves to consume premium gas, tires, oil (through the turbos usually), hair from your head, dollars from your wallet, and as LTC points out, years from your retirement. On the other hand, there are Honda minivans.

It depends on whether this is a true "Porsche CPO" or some 3rd party BS warranty. Make sure you ask and get it in writing.
If they already did the inspection...did they replace anything? Did they find anything? What does their report say?
Good luck. You will love the car either way.

I paid 2K for the CPO warranty when I bought my '05 last March. I haven't used it once. I'm getting an '11 in 10 weeks, so I'm hoping the CPO warranty will be a selling point (I'm either going to sell it back to one of the Porsche dealers or myself so I can transfer the warranty).

I appreciate everyone's comments. A little on my P-car experiences: I have owned at least 1 P-car at a time since 2000 when I bought a new Boxster S. Earlier last year, I bought a 04 996TT X50 Cab with CPO warranty.
"Feedback" that I received from the 996TT forum suggested that I may have over paid due to the CPO and potentially could have done better on the deal.
Posing the similar question here has solicited a differing opinion, which I find curious. Is it because the Cayennes are DDs? Or are Cayenne owners more conservative? Don't know....
Anyways, should I elect to pull the trigger on this truck, it will have the factory extended warranty.
Thanks all.
