Porsche Cayenne Headlight issue

HEY EVERYONE- THIS IS MY FIRST POST SO I HOPE THAT I CAN FIND SOME GOOD ADVISE OR HELP. MY CAYENNE'S HEADLIGHT JUST STARTED "BOUNCING AROUND" (UP AND DOWN) WHILE THEY ARE ON. NO MATTER IF I AM DRIVING OR STOPPED THEY CONTINUE TO MOVE IN A VERTICAL MOTION. THE MESSAGE CENTER INDICATED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS NEED TO BE ADJUSTED. HOW WOULD YOU DO THIS AND WHY DID IT JUST START FOR NO APPARENT REASON? THANKS EVERYONE FOR ANY ADVISE. :banghead:

Welcome to Rennlist Captain Caps lock!

Seems likes there is an issue with the auto adjustment, I would get the car scanned by a dealer or Indy with the proper equipment.

Perhaps pull the fuses or disconnect battery for a "reboot"

thanks marc... i will give the dealer a call. when i bought my cayenne- it was under the certified program.... do you think this would fit under the warranty?

I would think it would be for sure!

And once again Welcome!

There is a TSB about the light brackets loosening up with normal use. Your dealer can fix them and apply the TSB, which includes putting LocTite on the bolts to make sure they don't loosen again.

jfranz71,

I had the exact same problem with my '06 Cayenne S. The dealer fixed under the warranty. From the description on the invoice the fix was to reset several of the cables that connect the headlights. So far the fix seems to have worked.

Are both headlights doing it?
Are they Xenon?
If they are Xenons and cycling up and down it could be a bulb that is nearing the end of its service life.

Check my thread on this issue, Since I changed my battery, it has not happened since. No idea why this is the case but I will take it.

jfranz- Welcome to Rennlist. I would certainly check the caps lock button just to be safe

Which sensors ???

Jochy 02-08-2015 01:55 AM

Which sensors are supposed to replace in order to avoid this beam problem..?.?

Jochy 02-15-2015 01:01 PM

I'm facing this same issue, the beams seems to loose the focus by moving up and down while the vehicle is stationary and sometimes running. Also sometimes if headlights are turned On, the beams stay pointing down.

Would appreciate if somebody know about the headlight sensor mentioned above, I don't really know which sensor is this one and would like to replace it to solve my issue.
TIA

I'm going to take a wild stab here and assume he was speaking of the levelling sensors on the front and rear axles that tell the pitch of the vehicle and adjust the xenon lights accordingly! But I may be wrong
