Panoramic Sunroof

hi All,

can anyone tell me if the cover (inside cabin) to the pano roof is solid (like a standard size sunroof) or is it mesh similar to Audi's, etc?

thanks.

I drove a pano roof-equipped Cayenne in Stuttgart back in October 2009. During a very sunny day around noon, the sunlight managed to peer into my eyes between my sunglasses and eyebrow.

Sunlight will not get blocked entirely by the perforated screen and if you have sensitivity to light, this may not be a viable option for you.

I think the new cars are solid with no perforations, the older ones are perforated, the amount of light that comes through does not bother me at all but its definetely present.

I've seen it in person and was somewhat disappointed. Unlike the BMW option the second/rear section doesn't open. Additionally and based on having one with a BMW for the last 3 years I've come to the conclusion that it's a mixed blessing.

One the one hand it's a talking point that lets in a lot of light. On the other hand it lets in a lot of light, which means heat. I found that even in the mild climate of Northern Europe I'd spend three seasons with the cover in place to stop the vehicle getting too hot. BMW have a vehicle cooling system which operates while parked. Unfortunately Porsche don't have this option on the 92A.

I own one and it has more light in the cabin for sure. But I love it, different feeling in all weather, its an airy cabin if you know what I mean. And the back passengers love it even more. Hotter in the summer, but the A/C is solid and cools things down fast. In the winter during day light hours its naturally warmer. My 1.5 year old's first ride in the back, she literally said "Nice" with a big smile, looking up. Mom stated "now you know the Porsche is approved" :)
