03 Cayenne SPUTTERS AND DIES!

Hello, I have a 2003 Porsche cayenne with 95,000 miles on it, one day i went to pump gas and after i put about 10 gallons of (91) from 76 gas station my truck started to misfire or backfire as u may call it, and it turns off and idle is not steady. i was on empty before pumping gas..and i changed the fuel filter and O-ring as i though that was the problem. but it still acts the same..

Any chance you left you're car running during the fueling? I did that once upon a time and suffered the same symptoms + the CEL warning light. It cleared on it's own after a day or two.

Other than that, it sounds like you might be looking at the ol' ignition coil issue.....

Any chance that the gas station sold you bad gas? I had this happen to me back in the late 90's....gas station paid $1,500 in repairs, which was a new fuel pump, fuel filter, and labor.

00Jay, thanks for the response idk if it was the gas? maybe right...how did u go upon doing all that with the gas station? and them resolving ur issue? :banghead::banghead::crying::banghead:

I called the gas station, reported the problem and asked if they had any other customers complain about bad gas. The attendant told me no. Took my car to the dealer and had them diagnose....they told me it probably was bad gas. I called the gas station back up and told them that my problems were a direct result of using their gas. Gas station had me fax the repair estimate to their fax machine, and had a check ready for me the next day.

Good luck. Be firm with you think it's bad gas. Put the gas station on notice that you had a problem directly after you used their gas via email or fax. Keep phone logs too. Even if they're not at fault, the sooner you notify them, the better so that you can prove anything should it have to go to court.

Thanks for the response (pokerjarvis) i was just on Empty And i pumped about 30 dollars of gas and once i turned it on it just sputtered and died :crying: and i drove it home since my house was like 3 blocks away but on every light it would turn off. i would restart it and it ran fine as long as i got on the pedal but once i slowed down it would just die.im super worried i changed the fuel filter and O-Ring and it still acts the same.... Some here told me MY FUEL PUMP. so im just wondering which it could be.

Try Spark Plugs

I had that happen and it had to do with something being cracked related to the spark plugs. This caused 1 cylinder to misfire and in your case you may have more than one cylinder misfiring.
