996/997 short shift kit in a Cayenne GTS
Has anyone tried installing a Short Shift Kit in a GTS cayenne. I know this might sound crazy but I would love a lower shifter with a shorter throw.
I am considering buying a B&M SSK and attempting to install it into my Cayenne but I am wondering if someone has done this in the past. The unit looks like it might fit but I have not pulled my shifting unit apart.
My other option is to shorten the factory shifter and use an aftermarket shift ****, but I am not sure this will give me the short throw I would like, has anyone done tried this?

Yes, it does not work.
I did however work out another solution. I purchased a weighted JTM shift **** and simple shorten cut the stock shift lever off below where is flattens out.
Shifted great and was more comfortable.

Were you ever able to get the Schnell SSK to work on your Cayenne? I have an '08 GTS 6-spd and am interested in such a kit for it.

My mechanic could NOT remove the OEM shift **** after wrestling it for an hour.
Not sure why the sucker did not come off, I bought my car used, maybe the previous owner or dealer glued it. We were too afraid to break something, I ended up returning the kit. Very dissapointing. Give it a try and please report back.
