Sticky Parking brake light
Not really a big deal, on my 05 CS, but I notice if I fully engage the parking brake the light goes off. Partial depression and it is on, of course goes off if the brake is not depressed at all.
This a known issue? Anyone else have it?

The pedal release mechanism is known to stick. It generally happens when you release the brake, so the pedal doesn't come all the way back up - leaving the light on. I just push it the rest of the way with my foot - problem solved.

I think I wrote it wrong, I have the opposite problem as you, when I push it in the light goes on, then it goes off when fully engaged. I.E. I can not tell by the dash lights the brake is on.

I haven't heard of that one until now...

I just had a fix under warranty of the hydraulic mechanism that is part of the release of the e-brake.
I understood that that it is a quite well known problem.
In my case, the "on" lamp would stay on even after releasing. I had to do a "lot of releases" to shut the lamp and the auditive signal.

kindda dumb design as you all agree, since this mechanism requires you to press the pedal prior to pull that handle.
Porsche should have learned or just copied from Chevy/Ford truck.
Looks like the previous owner had this item replaced under the warranty and I took in to have it replaced once more after I got my cayenne, didn't know I had to press the pedal prior to pulling the handle to release....

The problem you're describing sounds different than the common issue with the light staying on after the brake is released. You probably need a new switch, it is obtainable separate from the entire mechanism (at least it was as of a about a year ago).

I have the same problem.
My parking brake light / indicator sometimes come ON when you press the pedal, but sometimes it stays OFF. It's about 50/50 at the moment.
There danger there is that occasionally I drive it with the parking break on and don't know it. I believe the actual parking break is engaging and working, just the light doesn't always come on to show it.
Sometimes it comes on 1/2 way, and when you press it all the way it turns off.
Anyone know how to fix this?

Swapped mine out the other day. No more double release required for the light to turn off. The removed shock was clearly blown as I could compress it by hand with very little resistance compared to the new one I installed.
Thanks Rennlist.

I had a somewhat similar issue. I had a hard time getting the parking break to release. Usually, I had to pull twice on the release, and once it would not release period for a bit, and then did release. I got the mechanism replaced. Was not that expensive.
