cayenne sputtering

hey guys,

couple days ago my car sputtered abit when i turned the ignition but the car started and it was fine. This afternoon i got in, turned on the engine and it sputtered and went out. 2nd try the engine turned on but only seemed like half the engine was on!!?? 3rd try same and then 4th turn the engine came to life. i never had a problem like this with any of my cars.. im taking my car to the dealership on monday to have it checked out. What do you guys think it was??

btw- 08 cayenne S with 24k miles

Do a search on coils or coil packs, plenty of info. There is even a "sticky" thread at the top of the list.

Agreed. Sounds like coils.

or perhaps fuel pump

+1 on the fuel pump. Those were exactly the symptoms when mine went. When it was replaced, it drove for a week or so and died on me again. While I was driving. An amazing experience. One I doubt I'll forget. Ever.

Or perhaps both fuel pump AND cracked coils...don't forget fouled plugs follow cracked coils.

Could also be bad gas (water in the gas), if the issue goes away that is...

Yep those are the symtoms I had when my fuel pump was heading south.
