OK the verdict is in ... the Ebay Switch does not work on my car. The ECS one works but has red lighting (which looks good and matched speedo needle and hazard light when lit). I received the Porsche one today from Sunset Porsche (Oregon talk to Bob). I think it was $54 plus shipping. It also works perfectly.

The Ebay switch which is a VW part and silver trim, does NOT work on my car. It did not turn on and off the lights.

If anyone is interested in the audi one with red lighting let me know.

Thanks for doing all the legwork on that one, CarreraCup. Do you have a pic of the audi one with the red lighting showing? I don't even think there's a light around my current non-auto headlight switch.

I'm assuming the dealer supplied one doesn't light up either?

Yes the porsche one says made in Spain, and it does light up orange.

All the ones I have light up, even the old non auto. You may need to turn the dial to the left for more brightness.

I do not have a picture of the audi one with Red lighting. It is subtle and looks good.

What do you mean the non-auto headlight switch doesn't light up? Of course it does:

hmmm maybe mine does light up. I'll have to check it. I was envisioning a ring of light for some reason.

No idea why the VW Ebay one does not work. Not an electrical engineer, but it does look the same. Give yours a try beffore you get the Porsche one. The sliver on the switch does match my alum interior trim .. so if you can get yours to work I would keep it. Maybe mine is defective ... not sure.

One thing to note: the audi one is easier to see. meaning when the auto lights go on, with the porsche one, it is tough to see that the lights have gone on. The audi one is brighter. There is nothing on the dash/speedo that tells you the lights are actually on .. so the only way to tell is the background lighting on the switch and rest of dash goes on. when it is starting to get dark, and still too light to see the switch lighting ... you cant tell if the lights have gone on or not. Easy to see in the Audi red switch.

next step ... turning on the coming home feature using Durametric. I see it in the coding section. +1 for on ... but I am not sure what this means. Anyone know how this works ... I would love to figure it out.

ps. when leaving either switch in the non auto on position, with engine off and door open, is there a blank screen between the tach and speedo or do it say " lights on"

Got the new Porsche switch. It was easy to take out the old switch, but I'm having some trouble pressing the new switch all the way back into the housing. Did you guys use force? Is the **** supposed to be in or out when re-installing?
