Silly Question but
My wife saw a pepper on the showroom floor with light up"Cayenne" when you open the door(on the sill plate). Can I have this added to a used pepper after the fact? She liked it. Will it cost a fortune?

I have just done this and it is NOT an easy job.
Door trims, kick plates and some additional wiring needs to be done - but the results are cool.....
Simon.

Do you mean that the pig is not already pre-wired?
Do you mean there isn't a connector, just waiting, under an easy to remove plate?
Shocking.
VIN specific wiring harnesses. What a brilliant production cost savings and post sales revenue generating idea.
I guess that's what they meant by:
Professional installation is recommended

Delivering a surprise (1995 968 Cabriolet Polar Silver/Black, 3rd to last one to come off the line, 40K miles, looks brand new) to a friend who just built a garage....drove down, 18 hours, stayed overnight and flew back.
His first Porsche.
It's really not that bad.
I would just make it part of the deal for the Cayenne you're considering. Tell the dealer you'll pay for the part, they install it for free.
Simple.

A question: the installation instructions that are described above tie into the lights under the dash and I wonder if they have a dimming feature the door lights do not. The reason I suggest this is the driver for the lights in the sills, the small box shown in the illustrations, may need a full 12v to work properly and not designed to be dimmed. Perhaps the light in the door is either on or off and not variable. Just a thought and perhaps the reason why the instructions tell you to take that route.
