How is yours driving with the new coils?
new coils plus new spark plugs (came with the $1900 90km service), its only been a day with them and only my wife has driven it. She says it is fine but I need to check myself.

Default New coil performance

It may be my imagination, but my CS seems to be somewhat peppier with the new coils: and no more hesitation.
A related tale: my loaner was a 6 cylinder Cayenne (06 I think). It was really speedy and sounded a lot cooler (and louder) that my CS.

Did the faulty coils affect gas milage? Our 06 S seems to be getting 3-4 mpg worse recently. Any thoughts?

I took a quick trip last Friday / Saturday of about 375 miles each way, with the new coils having been installed the previous Wednesday. This was 99% at highway speeds (70-80 +/-) and I think I got somewhat better mileage, maybe 1 or 2 mpg better.

The rough idle seems to have been cured (although I didn't really do much idling). It is definitely more responsive, which is a good thing since I was driving through Texas and it can get a little weird down there....

New coil packs are going in my C-S today. Driving the car to work last Friday I noticed an occasional bad miss/stumble at idle or under light acceleration. Durametric scan showed fault codes P0300 (multiple random misfires) and P0304 (Cyl 4 misfire). Current mileage is 56.4K - yes, I'm nekkid!

Since the display screen started recently giving me the countdown to the next service, I went ahead and scheduled the 60K mile service for today. At least the timing worked out so it happened when the plugs were due for a change anyway.

The Coils are 12 bucks at sunset porsche, FYI. This could be done easily with off-warranted people at home in the garage.

Can anyone point me to the DIY on coil replacement? I saw it a couple of nights ago but didn't bookmark it - now I'm coming up blank on searches.

Ordered a set of coils today. My CS started the "rough idle" misfiring, and bad sulfur smell yesterday. I'm at 54K miles, have extended warranty, however those fateful words "I'm afraid those aren't covered" were uttered by the dealership this morning. Not a huge deal since I'm a decent mechanic... figure if I can do a clutch job on my back in the garage on my 951, changing out these coils should be no problem!

I've got the coils and the Durametric package on the way. It's driving like a pig, lurching and surging and the check engine light is on. Should be interesting to see what codes this thing throws. Hope the coils return it to a semi-enjoyable drive.

Just started installing my coils this evening...Pepper's been parked since last weekend when I first encountered the sluggishness.

The first four are all out on the driver's side...ALL 4 have cracks in the damn things. The newest iteration of the parts end in "03". Pretty easy process so far, but on the passenger's side (as in every Porsche I've worked on) there's one screw on the design cover that is blocked overhead by a large "arm" that goes over to the side wall of the fender...anyone know what that is? How to get around it? Etc.

Motor mount - not sure how to work around it, but I suspect that removing it is not an option.

Watch out for that stabilizer arm dealers have been known to break them when changing coils
