Default Disabling Fasten seatbelt chime

Before everyone jump at my troat...I always wear my seatbelt on the roads, on ANY roads. I just find it anoying to have to take off my seatbelt to reach into the ticket booths of my underground garage and then drive at 5MPH with the bell going on and on and on. Likewise we have a farm and I sometime need to drive around the field and don't care to wear my belt for that.

Anyone knows how to qiuet the chime ??

thanks,

Marc

Had mine done.......... Dealer can disable through PIWIS system. You will need to sign a waiver of liability, etc.

Best 5 mins I have ever spent at the dealer!

Some dealers won't do this.

True, a way to force the issue may be to ask:
"Why does the PIWIS system have a menu option to obtain consent from the owner to disable the chime?"

Why does the PIWIS system offer the feature and you are not allowing me to personalize my car.... What's next? I can't program my seat memories?

Just some random thoughts a-la Larry.

I found a sympathetic service advisor how had the chimes disabled on their 997.

I then talked with the shop foreman who did the programming.

I'd find an enthusiast advisor or svc. mgr who will accommodate the request..... After all, it is your car.

Brad, is there a deeper reason beyond liability why you would not disable this "feature"?

I'm not Brad, but I'll tell you why I wouldn't disable it. I've been stopped by cops few times because they said it "LOOKED like" I wasn't wearing my seatbelt. After telling them that it's impossible because of this very feature, they've apologized & let me go. I'm thinking that there will come a day when they'll ask me to prove myself & demonstrate the feature :-D

That's a lame excuse to pull you over...... They were really wanting to get a close-up view of the Cayenne forum's resident Goddess.

I'm wondering about an excuse that made them pull over my husband for the same reason? :-D

I have been in 2 bad accidents that belts have saved my life and my brothers life with out a doubt.

Personaly i dont get paid enough as it is and the liabilty on that to me is like not torqueing wheels with a torque wrench.
IF there was an accident, im not legaly responsible becasue the waiver but I dont want to go to court or be in that situation that what i did made it more comfortable to not wear their seat belt .

I have recomend that people go to junk yards and just cut a seat belt from a vw/audi and used the male buckle end, but even when those cars come in i take it out and leave it in the glove box.
I am not responsilbe for any thing the customer may do, only what i do

I should have started off by saying the above. A seatbelt did save my life over 10 years ago when I was a passenger in a car that flipped over. I would have gone through the windshield if it weren't for the belt.

But that chime is still annoying
