Price Check? New Brakes for '05 CTT
I'm looking for some feedback on the cost to replace my front brakes/sensors on my 2005 CTT?
Dealer is asking $1,100...
Is this realistic? I thought I've heard around $700-800 per axle...???

...i should add rotors also to that price...
ok...the $1,100 was for sensors, pads, and rotors...
but when I just had my wheels balanced and an alignment done yesterday at another shop, they told me my rotors were fine and I only needed pads/sensors ...
Dealer says "Brembo recommends always changing rotors when changing pads/sensors"....
this seems like overkill if my rotors are still fine????
any thoughts on this? Does everyone here always change rotors with every pad change?

As has been previously discussed, barring any scoring/grooving, as long as your rotors are within the specified limits for thickness, there is no reason to replace them.

How many miles on the CTT if I may ask?
Anyway, parts with brake fluid is between $400 and $500
Now add in the labor $______?
Ask your dealer just to give you a price break down, no dealershp is equal.
We had the pads changed on our CTT without rotors being changed, no problems but we only had 11k on the clock at the time.

23,000 miles now...but those are heavily highway miles, maybe 65-75% on highway at high speeds
I'm gonna have the thickness measured tomorrow by an unbiased (read: non-dealership) viewpoint...
As ltc said, as long as there is the proper thickness remaining, I'll probably just go ahead and change the pads only...

...btw...
I'm getting the 20k mile service today including the brake fluid already...so that will already be paid for and done...
I have a reliable mechanic who will get the pads/sensors for me from the very same dealership and install them for about $365...
Like I said, the brake fluid will already be done today, so I figure just pads and labor and it looks about right...

I just posted this on another topic, but my Cayenne S (just got it back yesterday) cost around $1200 for both front/rear pads, sensors and rotors. According to my service book, fluid had been changed out at 25K.
Car has 44K miles, and apparently the fronts have been replaced once since new.
This was from the dealer, a phone quote from a 3rd party was cheaper, but I did not have the time nor motivation to move it.
