Default PCA vote of confidence on alpha & beta yrs

Nice to know that PCA has finally joined the party:

I have read a lot about the quality issues with early Cayennes including some posts on this site. I am considering a used 2004 Cayenne S and my question is what build date should I be looking for to avoid these early problems?

I would not buy any 2004. Hold out for a 2005 or 06. The electrical issue have been resolved by 2005. If you have to get an 04, look on the drivers door jamb and look at the build date. 07/04 is about the latest 04 you can get before the 05 build date starts.

Of course, we former alpha/beta models have been warning about this for years.. But, we've been kinder than Peter of PCA... my (our) one caveat for all you "pre-owned" buyers.. If you have an Ext. Warranty or CPO - you're good to go financially with the Cayenne until 6/100K i.e. 'til 2010 (but you may still make a lot of visits to the dealer)

After 2010, I'd predict alpha/beta Cayennes may have more value for increasing fish congregation at the bottom of a lake (bass would love 'um) or as an artificial reef for Charlie Tuna and any Porsche enthusiasts with scuba gear!
