Timely thread - mine is going in tomorrow, and the b*tch of it is that I just got a free oil change as part of the inspection for an ext warranty- but at another shop. So I'll be dumping my new oil so the dealer can charge me 250 bucks for the same stuff.

Hell, they'll probably just dump it from the drain pan back into my crankcase.

Default 20 k visit

Mine cost me $360 ($400 less dealer 10% off coupon). Nothing major to do. I have 60 % left on the brakes, but I will have to deal with the wearing Conti's soon.

Mine was about $670, including 10% off PCA membership discount. Most dealers will try to throw in things like replacing wiper blades and want to charge you $100 for that. Tell them to stick with what's in the Manual, and do the blades yourself for half the cost.

Labor rates can be a big variable on the cost, with large metro areas (like LA) usually charging a good bit more per hour. My dealer in N. Va. is at $118/hour right now. Top independent shops are around $90-95 per hour in this area.

You should be able to just ask for a 20,000 mile service, hold the oil change. Done this on multiple occasions. Maybe have them check it is all.

Important Notes:
· The engine oil and oil filter must be changed every 6,000 miles (10,000 km) in vehicles which are operated in countries where leaded fuel is used.
· If the mileage for a regular service is not reached, minor maintenance must be carried out after 2, 6, 10...... years.
· The term "checking" includes all necessary subsequent work such as adjusting, readjusting, correcting and topping up, but does not include repairing, replacing and reconditioning parts or assemblies!
· The maintenance item Replacing spark plugs depends on the engine type.

Bastards told me that Brake fluid flush was required.

In total they charged me $741. this included $7 for washer fluid that I had just topped off. They insisted it was low.

Needless to say I will be using a different dealership next service.

Brake fluid flush is required at two years; with an 04 Cayenne you were probably due (maybe overdue.) $741, including brake flush, is pretty reasonable.

Yeah cobalt, I didn't mention that brake fluid flush was also part of mine and the cost was $275 or $295 or something. It is in the maint manual.
