Default Hidden Tiptronic buttons?

Just the other day, I noticed these little black buttons on the BACKside of the steering wheel. They are right behind the tiptronic buttons at 9 and 3. At first, I thought maybe they were just covers for how the tip buttons attach to the front of the wheel, but when I press them, there is a soft "click" like they are supposed to be functional (for something). Pressing them has no discernable effect on transmission shifting (or anything else for that matter). What are these buttons for?

Left one is to release tire tacks to cause blow-outs on pursuing vehicles.
Right one emits a dense fog so you lose the 5-0.

They turn "on" and "off" the lighted display on the wheel itself. So you will only notice this at night.

No need for either of these features, so I think I will reprogram them for left and right photon torpedoes to eliminate left lane bandits... LOL LOL

My manual says those buttons will clear the "!" light if it inadvertently comes on while towing!

I never tried that.....I tried everything else, including slamming my forehead against the steering wheel....didn't work.

To dredge up an oldie but goodie (MadFox surely remembers this).....

Does using the buttons on the REAR of the steering wheel cause the paint to peel off (just like the front buttons)?

Now that you're 'naked', it's no longer a trick question.....you just have to wear powdered surgical latex gloves (back when I was a Cayenne owner, living in the 'villa'.....I had LOTS of them) when actuating the steering wheel control buttons.

Should I consult the Magic 8 Ball again to see if there is a 997S Cab in your future?
