My PSM FAULT WORKSHOP light and alarm came on yesterday and stayed on through 20 miles and 3 starts. Then it stopped and has not re appeared. This happens about once every 6 months for no apparent reason. Not worth going into the shop as I have before because its a NFF and no log from the system.

mine is
a 2005, CS, with PASM, COMFORT 1, PCM and something else... oh well<G>.
currently at 45000 miles with multiple problems showing up including an new and exciting metalic clank in the front end on takeoff. it is currently in lemon law proceedings, they were kind enough to miss the 10 day window and then hang up on me when i pointed it out to them.
while i love driving the thing, it is really begining to scare me into thinking this could be a 10k a year maintenance vehicle. or more, try pricing a tranny.

I'm very tempted to trade.. thought maybe a '07 S or Turbo instead of only going two model years.......... ahhhh, that's not possible.. don't like the changes on the '08 look.. so guess if I'm to stay with a Cayenne will have to get a '06... so my concern is have we not got all the bugs out of the Cayenne by '06 MY?
06s dont crack coils, havent seen any need water pumps, or tranfercases, most of the goofy elec problems have disappeared. they still eat tires and brakes and gas though

Got my CS back today. They replaced the "worn" torque support, rear I believe, (p/n 955-375-101-11 Engine Suspension AR) to remedy the problem I had with the engine feeling like it would stall when I came to a stop, especially on hills/inclines. They verbally told me the spark plugs weren't fouled. No misfiring detected with system tester aka "on-board diagnostic" tool.
So, we shall see how this goes!

Resurrecting an old thread.
I'm in the process of changing my spark plugs now (coils were done by dealer under warranty a year ago). Coils were still OK. Passenger side was no problem but I need a deep E12 (torx socket ?) to get the bottom 2 bolts on the torque bar bracket, my shallow socket is too big in diameter to fit all the way down the holes. So I've done 7 plugs, hopefully get the 8th tomorrow night.
My pepper has 48k mi. and I'm glad I did the plugs now and not waited for 60k, they don't look bad but they don't look good either. BTW, the plugs on the "S" are 4 prong plugs not like the 1 prong pictured for the turbo. List price for the Porsche part is $25.28 ea, I got them from my dealer for $22.75 ea. After getting the P/N from my invoice I checked Pelican and they have the Bosch part for apx. $9.00 ea. I had checked a couple parts suppliers and they didn't even list a spark plug for the Pepper so I didn't know if there was something exotic about them, I guess not.
FWIW, the maint. interval for the plugs is 60k mi. or 4 yrs., mine's just over 4 yrs.

i had my coils done at just under 50k under warranty. at 97k i'm getting a rough idle again in cold weather starts. i guess the life on these things is about 50k miles. when i go in for the 100k oil service next month i think i will have them done again.
other than that, the CS has been perfect.

I haven't had any issues like this with mine, and I'm still on the original coils and plugs. I guess I got lucky. I have about 56,000 miles on the Cayenne. I'll have them changed when it goes in for the 60,000 mile maintenance - probably in January or February.

Just had all 8 coils changed due to them being cracked @ 105,000 km (2003 Cayenne Turbo)
They installed the new -5 part number coils.
I had symptoms of misfires and sluggish response.
Fuel consumption and power have both improved since the change.
