I was planning on changing coils and plugs on my '06 CTT at 40,000 miles { way over 4 years }
Today at 39,200 miles engine light came on and the Pig started running very rough stuttering almost seemed to want to stall. Stopped by my indy and he check for a code found #8 had a misfire. Ordered the parts from Sunset coils and plugs . I don't like driving it like this, is it ok to drive short distances or not at all ?

What a difference the new coils and plugs made. Ya gotta love it

I have combed through these threads and am not sure how to handle my issue. I too am experiencing some strange idle issues and also roughness at lower speeds.
Normally I live far from a dealer, but will be close to the Arlington Porsche in DC for the next several weeks, so I thought it would be a good time to address any possible coil issues.
I have a 2006 Cayenne S Titanium with 80k miles. PCNA confirmed refund on coils for my VIN if needed.
If there are NO codes showing, how do I handles this? What do I tell the dealer? How to I approach the issue?
I am pretty sure that no matter what, I would like to get this repaired now (even preemptively) as later I will be approaching 100k miles AND I will not be near a dealer.
Can anyone give me input on how to best handle this? Thanks!

I have a letter from Porsche which I thought was common knowledge on all 2003-2006 Cayennes. I received it after I had my cam sensors replaced and while doing that job the dealership replaced all of my coils. The letter said that my warranty on the improved coils 955.602.101.04 was extended for 4 years or 50,000 from the date of the repair. It goes on to say any owner or past owner who incurred the coil repair expense before the date of this letter (which is not dated but my repair was on 4/16/2009) and had less than 100,000 miles at the time of the repair is entitled to reimbursement by Porsche. See attached letter: Scanned at 7-20-2012 22-06 PM.pdf Hope there are those of you who can reclaim some repair $$.

Hi all
Similar problems https://rennlist.com/forums/porsche-...-speeds-9.html
Am I right in concluding from this thread that even some new coils are updated to cure problem?

Just had that happen to my '06 S. Tom out #1 coil and wiring harness. No warning, it just went as we started it and pulled out of garage. WOW what a smell. We had to air out the garage for two days.. Since traded it in on a new GTS...

I got the following codes: P0300,P0301,P0304,P0308 so it must be the Coils. I have read the entire tread and decided to call Porsche of Orlando. The "Stealer" right out said there is NO extended warranty on the coils. I emailed them the letter from PCNA about the warranty. They then changed their story to "oh you have to bring in your car for us to look at it... bah bah bah." Really hate going to them but I dont think I have a choice if I want it to be covered by warranty. Hopefully it is....

Got my CS back today. They replaced the "worn" torque support, rear I believe, (p/n 955-375-101-11 Engine Suspension AR) to remedy the problem I had with the engine feeling like it would stall when I came to a stop, especially on hills/inclines. They verbally told me the spark plugs weren't fouled. No misfiring detected with system tester aka "on-board diagnostic" tool.
So, we shall see how this goes!

This is my next stop on the rough idle quest.

I have a hard time understanding why a bad torque support bar would cause a rough idle. I can understand a noisy idle and a banging idle but don't see how it would cause the engine idle itself to be rough. Can someone explain that to me?

Just speculation on my part, but don't those act as dampers, it may not cause the engine to stumble at idle but a cracked worn one will make it more noticeable. Like a worn engine mount can cause you to feel the engine torquing back against the body.
