[QUOTE=EuroCarNut]I have off-roaded with GM Austin quite a few times, and I will say that with the air suspension, I have seen GM take some climbs that the modified LR Discoverys on our trip were having problems doing. Of course, GM is also willing to put up with more potential body damage than I am willing to sustain.

Thanks Karl!

BTW, the photo above is from Elephant Hill in Canyonlands NP where I went with a 4Runner on the Loop and to the Confluence Overlook. That is a great off-road trail in the Moab area.

Coen,

Welcome to the club. Indeed, the Cayenne should be enjoyed for its off road vast capabilities, but its equally fun on road and is certainly not a waste if people wish to pamper it for tarmac use, it’s these breath of abilities which separate this vehicle from the rest.

Back to your question, I remember SATA Oman used to offer 18" Fulda off road tyres for the Cayenne. Try calling Moh'd or Sundra to get the details.

As far as increasing ride height on normal suspensions, I don’t think if anything is yet available for the Cayenne, however, try contacting Christine, on WWW.4X4styling.com, whom had been very helpful in sourcing 4X4 specialist parts.

Harith.

Colm, I do not own an MBUSA imported G for the very reasons you stated. I had a 2002 for a while and completely agree with you. That is why I own two G's from before MBUSA was involved. The steering is light, making manuvers easy, ESP is not on the truck, nor are all of the other intrusive electronics the new ones are festooned with.

I would like to see a Cayenne in action still. My wife had ours on a trail one day. She lifted it up with the air suspension and it rode like a lumber wagon. I just don't see how stiffening the springs to lift it makes much sense off-road where articulation is key.

My two pictures are from Cliffhanger, it is highly unlikely a Cayenne can run that one without body damage. But again, I do not expect it to.

Brent,

I never did Cliffhanger, but given your experiences I believe you.
