DIY THE **** EP. 1
Hello fellow 957 owners and welcome to my weeks worth of “what the ****” . Let’s start from the beginning (long read but want to add context). I’ve purchased my 2008 Porsche cayenne turbo with 113k miles in Nov 23. Had a previous thread about not being able to pass smog, which ultimately got sorted out due to having non stock ecu file . Last owner had tune or something so had to pay Indy shop to reflash to stock which helped pass smog. Since then I’ve driven the car and started the journey of catching up with all neglected maintenance. I’ve done spark plugs, coils, transmission fluid & filter/ differentials, water pump and coolant pipe o rings. Then I started to tackle an intermittent “chasis system failure” error due to what I believe was a front left air strut leak (constant squeaking and low front left side). Finally got around to getting air strut replaced with new control arms. This fixed squeaking and raised left front a bit but still error message now has become permanent. Suspected another leak somewhere in system from my search on here (compressor/valve block/check valve/ accumulators). I ordered the recommend compressor rebuild kit, tried that and inspected for leaks nothing changed. Then checked rear accumulator and found hair line crack in tank with signs of moisture coming out of crack. Ordered used eBay replacement, still nothing changed. Finally got fed up and decided to order Durametric cable to help me, which brings me to todays added issues. Durametric cable will not find any modules other then instrument cluster and transmission nothing else. Initially Durametric would come back with error codes for “pcm2 and gateway”. Eventually after lots of “what the ****s” found it has something to do with my after market android radio I installed. Luckily still had stock radio which I put back in. This time around Durametric would allow me to clear these “pcm and gateway” codes from instrument cluster module. Then when I run Durametric again I no longer get these error codes but still won’t access any other module other then instrument cluster and transmission. At this point need all the help I can get and more money!!

probably not, there is a jumper in vcds only because vcds is for the vag group and vag has a different communication pin, the durametric is for porsche, yours is a clone?

No mine is from Durametric.. but I spent like 2 weeks debating which one to get VCDS or Durametric. Decided Durametric cause I didn’t wanna deal with the jumper mod on vcds and figured Durametric was easier.

Many thanks, Jordan!
I just bought one from the seller that showed up at the top of the list sorted by best match (Extreme Cars Store) for $20.18.
Loads of positive reviews, some with pics. To top it off, I think it ships from the US somehow. Delivery promised by May 16 - 21.
To think I tried to buy this from Ross Tech years ago, and they wanted me to swear to God I didn't have a Porsche or some nonsense.
I don't know why they don't want our business.

I ordered cable you recommend, gonna give Durametric another try tomorrow in the meantime see if can get it to do anything. If not I will be returning it, can use that money for other things on my list.
