Rear Hatch Close Button Doesn't Work
Was out at my '08 957 this morning putting something in the back. Was able to open the hatch correctly, but when I pushed the "close" button, nothing happened. Had to close door manually. Light to the button is on, so I know it's getting power, but it does nothing. Of note, I did just have to replace the battery earlier in the week - it had completely died when I left it with a parking valet/service at the airport last weekend for two nights.
Any thoughts? |
You may have to retrain the door limits. Instructions are in the manual. Or maybe the switch has more than 2 wires going to it - one for the light and one for the button function. Shouldn't be hard to pop it loose and look at the connections.

Interesting idea and I think you're onto something. I didn't find any instructions to retrain the door limits, but I did find instructions to adjust the opening height of the door. I was able to adjust the height and according to the instructions, you hold the close button for 3 seconds and it beeped/lights flashed as they should have. So, clearly the button works and there's something associated to the full failure of the battery. Any idea how to retrain the rear door limits or know where to find it in the manual? I was unable to find it.

What you did is what I thought might fix it.

As an FYI to close this one out... I put this on a trickle charger last night (because I hadnt driven the car much in the last couple of days). Went out this morning, battery fully charged and the door closes fine now. So, another gremlin as the result of a fully dead battery, but getting the new battery to 100% seems to have cleared or reset or recalibrated things.
