I was shocked to hear that my local Dealership in Bellevue just got one in stock today when I called to inquire after my PCM died over the weekend. I picked it up anticipating a simple plug and play install. After opening up the box It doesn’t seem super difficult but it’s not that simple either. Has anyone installed one of these? Is there a DIY out there?
Update: It is basically plug and play, if you take a close look at the back every plug has a specific slot, there isn't much to mix up.
My only issue was that it was very quiet and only playing sound through one speaker when I first turned the system on.
This is because by default it's not set up for the Bose amp, under the "car" settings there is a selection to auto detect your cars features. This still didn't change anything even after it said "amp detected". Following this I selected "factory reset" and now it sounds great! Hopefully this helps the next guy fumbling through this without any supplied install guide.

Reason: update
Do you recall if there were any RCA outputs on the back of the unit? I'm guessing not since it's set up for MOST and the Bose amp. How about a rear USB port for CarPlay?
This seems wildly overpriced for something with relatively antiquated features. No wireless CarPlay!? Really!?
Maybe I missed it, but no mention of additions RCA outputs, added EQ settings, etc.
The only major benefit (to some) would be maintaining the radio & Nav info in the top part of the Speedo display. Other setups I’ve recently researched don’t appear to do that, but so what?
I think the Porsche tax is a bit too hefty on this one. A Dynavin N8 is a far better choice (if you can get over the looks)…..or there’s always the Android Unite which all seem to work fine with a MOST adapter/decoder

Bad value here
Ya. Welcome to the Porsche world, where occasionally parts are a tad on the pricey side.
I’m all for paying the Porsche tax when it’s worth it (exclusive OEM+ options are always a winner for me), but I can’t wrap my head around spending so much on something that’s already pretty outdated.

Great info. Did you have to have anything programmed at the dealer?

No, after I finished the sequence I described it seems to work.
I will regretfully declare that it doesn’t sound as good as my old pcm 2.0 and it still doesn’t get very loud. Hopefully there are some more settings to sort this out.

You may need to reconnect your PCM and set the volume to 80% or so. Also make sure that the bass and treble settings are zero and that the balance and fade are centered before disconnecting the PCM 2.0. I didn't have to do that with my Dynavin although others have had to with some of the other Android-based units, I recall reading.
Alternatively, is the volume issue on all sources or just CarPlay? You may need to turn up the volume on your phone.

I think that same Mike later replied that it does not get as loud, etc.
I’ll be eagerly waiting for others’ experiences!
and thanks for the pricing tip. I buy enough from them, I may be able to match that if I ask.
Does this official Porsche unit use the same generic fiber optic adapter as the aftermarket units that utilize a single channel to the amplifier (i.e. it has 1 pair of RCA inputs connected to the head unit and 1 orange fiber optic output that goes to the amplifier)? If so, I think that's why the sound quality will never be as full sounding as the original PCM.
