Default 2009 Cayenne Turbo S Valve Cover Replacement Project

Coming soon- will be doing a complete "top end" service on my 2009 Turbo S with 215,000 miles.

History- I had had a small oil leak since purchase. I replaced the AOS 3 way valve which I thought was the issue, but it turns out oil is leaking from somewhere else too. Replaced the little weird pipe under the AOS, replaced the back two plastic hoses... still leaked.

I took it into a shop for just a quick diagnosis (since they have a lift and better eyes than I) and the tech suggested it was the valve covers, possibly leaking both outside onto the manifold but also into the valley. Having reviewed the *extensive* dealer service records, this has not been done, so figured worth a shot.

I ordered all this recently from both FCP and RMEuropean.

Parts:

Spark Plug Gasket
4810593702 Qty 8

Camshaft Sensor Gasket
94810593800 Qty 2

AOS Seal 1
94810743950 Qty 2

AOS Seal 2
94810743960 Qty 2

Valve Cover Gasket - Right
94810593501 Qty 1

Valve Cover Gasket- Left
94810593601 Qty 1

Intake Manifold Gasket (just because why not)
94811014601 Qty 8

Once these are in, I will get a weekend free and follow Brainz's helpful DIY as well as the one on Pelican Parts, so mostly I will just be showing you all what 215,000 miles looks like in a Turbo S.

Stay tuned.

Parts day update! Spark plug gaskets in, but am missing one of the cam shaft grommets so reached out to vendor.

Rest of the parts are still en route.

Got the second seal in, now awaiting a certain three letter vendor to ship the rest.

Been watching videos on how its done, and seeing what avenues will work best for the awful rear bolts on the covers.

Dropping the engine always works.😆😆

There’s some tips on the FCP YT video. The episode where they were pulled from the river.

You can do it! small low profile ratchet is best for those rear bolts. You can also get a little more elbow room by disconnecting the hood strut and leaning it back more. Just be careful and brace it.

I used a torx bit (the kind that fits into a screwdriver) with a boxed end wrench. Worked great, though easy to drop.

I got one of those. And I have to replace the strut anyways so that's a good idea!

Very familiar with that setup- used similar to get the front diff fill plug unbolted

Someone on this forum recommended a cheap torx set from Cobalt which has a thin-profile box end magnetic holder. It is perfect for this task. With the magnetic holder, it is WAAY easier. Any rattles on my car can be attributed to lost torx bits or sockets in the engine bay!

Here you go. It is not the exact same set, but it has nearly all the same components.
