Wife wants to get rid of the 99' 528i station wagon - my choice is the Cayenne, her choice(s) are between the Cayenne or the X5.

What is a good and fair final price for the 6 cyl Cayenne (moderately equiped - she's not too picky, after all, she married me....)

With what specs? Where? In Tennessee? Or are you willing to take delivery elsewhere or buy elsewhere and have the car shipped to you? I would put together specs of the car you want, fax it to the dealers of your choice and have them bid on it.

I would presume that a large out of state dealer (say, Champion) would charge only a small amount over the invoice and the shipping costs. Locally you might pay a lot more.

We bought our X5 this way, paid only a small amount over invoice and never visited the dealer. I don't know the price of the Cayenne vs. the X but would presume the x is cheaper by several thousands.
