Default Steering rack play

Looking for some sort of spec on how much my steering rack input shaft should twist before wheels move...from under the car, it looks like a lot of movement/turning of the shaft before tie rods begin to move.

thanks!

Check the steering shaft coupler. Mine had come slightly loose and had a disconnected / wandering feeling when highway driving. Its up high in the engine compartment in the vicinity of the O2 sensor wires

The coupler is what connects the steering column to the input shaft on the rack, correct? I did check it and it is tight...while looking at that joint from under the car I had someone move the steering wheel back and forth and could see the input shaft of the rack turning about a quarter turn with zero tie rod movement.

I am in the process of removing the rack and subframe so I could inspect it further if anyone knows what I should measure?
