Default Porsche headlight assembly vs aftermarket?

I need a new headlight assembly for my 2004 Cayenne S. I see that third party assemblies, like the ones from Valeo, only cost about a third of the ones from Porsche. Any downside to buying aftermarket? How is the quality? Will they basically look the same? Thanks!

Valeo is the OE supplier so you should be safe.

I replaced the headlight assemblies on my 2004 Cayenne S with the Valeo units available in the aftermarket. They are absolutely indistinguishable from the original headlights (other than being new, of course). As already pointed out, Valeo is the OE manufacturer--these aren't copies.

I can say this.. The aftermarket Rear taillights look good, but tend to throw fog light/backup code or flashes after 1+year .. it's the parts they use.

Headlights are probably not much different. Your best bet is to buy used, BUT have them cleaned up to the nines.

Given from first hand experience. I can email pics if you want.

no problem with valeo, we sell them all of the time, and I have them on my own cayenne. The zenon ones do not come with the control unit however
