How to. Open hood with broken release cable and no emergency release
Hi all
On the weekend Intried to open my hood / bonnet but there was no resistance on the release lever.
Pulled the passenger side arch liner to use the emergency release and guess what, no resistance there either!! It turns out both cables had popped out of the lock unit!???!!!
I have a solution to this but as you can understand I do not want to put it out on the internet for all to find, so if any of you find yourselves in a similar situation I will happily inform you, but you must be a forum member. So either reply here or dm me.

In the interest of transparency and ease of information flow.
Here are the instructions for my voodoo work.
I used a lifting bag (winbag) to pump open a gap between the hood enough to get to the 4 torx screws holding the front bumper. Dropped the bumper in the usual way ie remove torx screws from wheel arches.
Then i I removed the 2 bolts holding the lock mechanism in place on the vertical support in from to the radiator.
Used the the air bag again to create space under the hood and then used a 10mm thin ratcheting spanner to undo the 3 nuts holding the upper half of the lock to the hood / bonnet panel. Was then able to use a screwdriver to activate the release cable pull from the back side of the lock mechanism then reconnected the 2 cables and put everything back together.
