Towing with the V6
I test drove the V6 & the S last night for the first time. As much as I'd like to get the S, I think the V6 better suits my budget. However, my biggest concern is its ability to tow a 993 through some pretty steep grades like the Grapevine, or the 14 going to Willow Springs.
Does anyone have any experience towing up a hill with the V6? (Note: I plan on towing my 993 on an open trailer).
Thanks in advance.

Thanks, David. That's my impression, too, but the guys at the dealer insist that the V6 can tow up to 7k lbs. Like you mentioned, though, I'm not 100% convinced so I'd really like to hear from people who have done some towing with it (particularly up hills).
Generally speaking, I've heard from many people that V6s normally aren't the way to go for towing vehicles. In comparing the Cayenne V6 to other SUV V8s, however, the numbers are close relative to horsepower, but where I believe the Cayenne V6 seems to be at a disadvantage is in its torque rating of only 229 lbs.

I tow 6,000lb load (boat+trlr) from SF to Tahoe.
I had a Jeep 6cyl (190HP) with a 5,000lb tow capacity. When towing up the grade it would scream 4500-5000 rpm. The Explorer before that was worse (6 cyl). Frankly I didn't think I could make it up over some of the summits.
You have to consider also, my experience is in high altitudes & you lose some performance.
My S was disconcerting because I didn't feel the load. Neither the weight nor the jiggle from road dips that usually jar the butt. The PASM took the jiggle out and the load well... I looked down at my speedo and I was always pushing 70-80 (and I don't want to be there with a load).
First get a truck with PASM. Second I wouldn't get the V6, its too close a call (unless you can test one with the load). Third, you're right about not trusting a salesman's opinion on that issue - most don't know what they're talking about (and they shouldn't venture an opinion).
My personal doubts: I don't trust the 616lb tongue weight capacity advertised (check your tongue weight). Additionally, the torque curve of the V6 - Hmmmm.
Have you considered a used S? I know you can't lease one but you might like to try a Credit Union for a purchase. Look at the Treg V8.

Thanks, Torag. That was great feedback and I appreciate it. The good thing is that I'm not in a hurry so I will definitely take my time on this. Thanks, again.
