V-Belt torn twice in a week
Hello fellas, keeping it short. My 2008 CTT has been in the garage for a month replacing both Turbos, valve cover gaskets, blow off valves, coils, and every fluid including PDCC reservoir. Shop is super experienced and the Job they did is superb apart from 1 thing. When I went to pick up the car the V-belt was torn between the 3rd and 4th line. Shop was shocked, left it there and they replaced it. Picked up the car on Wednesday, after a small trip and back around 75 miles I parked the car in the garage. Today I wanted to take it for a ride again and once I cold started same noise as the first time the belt was torn. I am sure that the belt is torn again although due the limited space I can’t see evidence. any thoughts what might be the culprit? |
Chances are a pully has been damaged or the idler is shot.

Why are you replacing both turbos? Just curios as I've read on here that they never go bad....

All the parts and labour included the sum came to 2,400.00 Euros. Comparing to the prices I see hear for that amount of work, I am very pleased. |
Regarding the belt torn twice, we replaced again (no charge) belt tensioner and pulleys. Car is running great now.
The new headache is to sort out the outdated HU the car has but without compromising sound quality. |

The engine has 120K miles, I had an oil leak from the left turbo and when we dropped the engine to take a better look there was a hairline crack. Even my mechanic had never seen a crack in a 957 turbocharger but I decided to replace both. We did some extra work since the engine was out and apart from this small issue with the belt the car works great.

Yes, your mechanic is very economical and it sounds like you did it right!
