Default 2006 V6 Coolant Hose Leak and Break

I have a 2006 V6 and I have a couple of coolant leaks. There doesn't seem to be much info out there, and the S and Turbo are different than the V6 right?

I have a coolant leak on the driver side of the engine, looks to be a plastic parts high up on the engine.

And today I noticed a strong coolant smell and I looked on the passenger side and saw it dripping from a hose coming from/to the coolant tank and connecting to two other hoses. I touched it and it instantly broke off, barely touched it. So now I will have to replace.

Any thoughts on this hose, just replace this and fill up coolant in the reservoir? The same happened on my old 996 and I just topped off coolant and never had any issues. Getting those brittle pieces of plastic out of the hose was not fun though.

I think it's this part Part #: 955-106-058-02-M100, does that sound right?

The pictures aren't very clean, but its the hose that has the print on it.

I have not seen this problem before. Did the hose fittings on the coolant tank break?

No, it was the t connector on the hose going to/from the coolant tank and somewhere else. Ordered new hoses. Hope it's not too fiddly to get in there and replace.

Looking at your first picture it looks likely to me that your thermostat housing is leaking as well. These are plastic and tend to warp so just replacing the o rings will likely not be a successful repair but obviously your broken pipe seem to be the main thing to worry about.

Thanks PTEC, I've been trying to find out what that is. From parts it either looks like thermostat housing or auxiliary water pump. I'll definitely go and replace that next. So the Thermostat is located high on the engine above the oil cooler on the driver side?

Are there any good resources for the V6 cars? Most tutorials and pages feature the S.

Not really, no. Information on the V6 cars is sketchy. There might be some help to be had on VW VR6 or Touareg forums, but I don't know how much is shared in the motor.

Don't know either. But sounds like what is leaking is the thermostat housing? I'll put it on the list. Now, just trying to get those damn clips off.

Looks like it is leaking from from any end of number 16:

More of the coolant system, but with a water cooled alternator option, my V6 is definitely not water cooled:

Here is the rest of it:

Not sure why the photos are all out of focus, but I cannot find the part number you reference in any of those part number in those diagrams.
