Carbon Fiber interior "overlays" on ebay, etc? Thoughts?
Ok before everyone jumps - let me explain. I have an '06 CTT that is basically driver quality. Mechanically it runs great, no codes or dash lights, but the car was used by a family and many of the "soft touch" surfaces are scratched or marked. It was SUPER cheap, so I'm trying to get it nicer on a budget.
My '03 with the wood interior has fared much better and I was trying to come up with ways to "dress up" the interior bits of the car without blowing the bank. Used soft touch parts all seem to have the same problem.
Searching around I found some Carbon Fiber "stick on" kits on ebay that were pretty inexpensive. My intention is not to decal the whole interior - but on some key parts (the center console and window switch covers specifically) I thought adding the overlays would look nicer than the existing bits. When I see a pic like this, it sure looks nicer than what I see
So I'm curious - I'm not planning on stickering up the whole car, but has anyone used these sets that can comment on fit and quality?
Thanks!

Heck why not, for $150 it might be ok. Won't know if the pictures are truly representative until someone tries . I like the idea if it doesn't look too obvious.
Oh you are talking about the $50 sticker stuff. Interesting. Might be kewl too!

This is the set I got. $130 and free shipping. It has WAY more pieces then I need, but better to have more than less. Worth a try to see if can spruce up the interior.

I just got my CTTS A a couple weeks ago. Love it! If you're looking for real carbon fiber trim check out wowtrim dot com. (btw not affiliated with the site) I'll provide some feedback once I receive it and post some pictures.

maybe it's just me, but i find that fake carbon fiber bothers me even more than fake wood. If it was me, I'd probably look for something that looked like the satin silver trim elsewhere in the Cayenne. One thing to think about... if these bits you put on dont hold up to the daily use you will give them, you should think about how easy or hard it is to remove what you put on in case you need to replace it periodically to get rid of wear marks.

A good point. I'm not going to put a lot of wear on the car. I saw the pic in the ad and thought it looked understated if used sparingly. So we'll see.

Got them last night. Will post pics but I put them on in my garage so lighting wasn't great.
I will say this - for the money, these are pretty damn awesome.
My first impression is that the quality of the cuts/fitment is OUTSTANDING. I don't think I've seen another aftermarket part that has the precision fit these do. I'm extraordinarily impressed how precise these are cut and how well they blend into the part.
I sparingly used them only on the center console and window trim, since those parts look the worst as the soft-touch paint degrades. I could not be more pleased with the improvement.
I wasn't going to use many of the other parts, but I may reconsider based on how well these have gone on.

I have the factory carbon fiber trim and it is beautiful, but I would never pay the amount of money for it that the original purchaser did! If the faux carbon fiber overlays look anything close to the factory pieces, then you will really like it, especially with a black interior.
