"Check Hitch" warning

"Check Hitch" warning
My car is due an MOT and there's a warning on the dash "Check Hitch" with an icon of the tow bar. Checking in the boot, the rocker switch for sending the tow bar in or out has two constantly flashing LEDs on it. It still winds the tow bar out and in with no problems, but the two lights continue to flash, and the "Check Hitch" warning continues to be on the dash. What could this be, and how can I rectify it? Thanks

Try to reset it by holding the button down until it stops flashing and stays solid. Either way should work, or was it fully out then fully in, i don't remember.
Mine always gives that warning if I shut the tailgate before it has completed moving the hitch.
I don't think it would be an issue with mot though.

Same similar issue
Looked through this post as my 2012 has same issue, both switches/lights blinks.
it moved a few inches back and forth, from the extended position but unable to get the lights out.
red warning light in dash that states hitch not locked.
It moves the same way with each switch, doesn’t matter ehich one I press.
Any ideas???
