starting issue after refueling Cayenne Sti
i have been having this issue sporadically for a 1.5yr.
after filling the gas tank, the car will not start. it cranks over but does not fire. it will then eventually fire then die. crank again and it fires but the idle is rough until it eventually evens out and i can drive away. this event lasts 5-10 minutes until car starts.
starter was replaced fairly recently so i dont think its the starter.
what's the collective wisdom here think?
fuel pump relay?
fuel pump?
etc?

Is it at all possible that the filler cap is not fully closed, or even that it's closed but the seal is worn ? Reason i ask is that a loose filler cap can throw a Check Engine Light and make it go into limp mode.

Hi,
if you have access to a code reader now would by the time to plug it in a see what shows. Sounds like code P0441 would come right up.
I just took ownership of a durametric and guess which code I have on my CTT, yep, P0441. After some internet searching the culprit seems to be the tank purge valve, or as above - a loose/unsealed fuel cap.
Just from reading about the purge valve online your symptoms are SO consistent with it failing. Do some searches using the info above and I'm sure you'll be running to the stealers to get it swapped in no time.
Best of luck

code does indicate a valve is needing replacement. its the valve in the engine compartment and is easily accessed.
btw. a brand new oem gas cap was installed last week. check engine light came back on thus the new valve code.
