Hello, I'm a newbie who's 1997 Boxster will not go into 5th Gear. Recently purchased with 90k miles. I've read the various posts, but no luck. Fluid appears fine and no disconnections noted under at transmission or with console removed. Car was driving fine, then out of the blue no 5th gear. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks so very much

Check the linkage alongside the gearbox. The cables pop out if their retaining brackets- zip tie works !

The sleeve inside the cable can also slide out at the tyranny end
