Default Clip in speed nut for chassis air duct?

Anyone have the part number for the small black speed nut that inserts into the chassis where the front bumper, chassis air duct, and wheel well liner meet up?

The retaining screw goes through the slotted hole in left side of this air duct piece. I need the insert speed nut that goes up into the chassis.

The closest thing I could find a picture of it this one, but the part in the Boxster is black.

My advice is to visit the local Porsche dealer parts department. If the part is available separately the parts department person can look it up for you and give you the part #.

I did some searching and I don't think I found it but here is what I found:

All sorts of fasteners:

And last but not least you might find it here:

Jason, the part number is 999 591 699 02. I am in the middle of replacing the exact same ducts and I am also missing the speed nut and screws. Going to the dealer today to get this and a couple of other odd ball fasteners.

Here are the relevant PET pages

The Porsche tax was not so bad on these items. I just got back from my dealer and the cost of the speed nut is a whopping $0.58 CDN Thats fifty eight cents CANADIAN, so my US friends should get by real cheap. The screw that goes with it was a bank breaking $0.41 CDN. They have to be brought in from the Mississauga, ON warehouse and I'll see them after the weekend.

While some Porsche parts can cost an arm and two legs -- I just priced a new cluster that lists for over $3K -- the little stuff is almost always very reasonable.

One gets the help of the parts counter guy pulling up the parts diagram (and he has the latest ones) and having the part # right there.

And one ends up with the same hardware as before which means it fits, there are no clearance issues and the car is back the way it was intended to be which is nice.

I have bought new bumper cover hardware, wheel well liner hardware (the rivets for instance), coolant tank cap, oil filler tube cap, even a new gas cap and its tether and a tech showed me how to release the rivet that holds the tether so I could remove the old one and install the new one.

Thanks for all the replies, love this place!

I don't think it is that "999 591 699 02" part, nor is it the one that replaces it "999 591 699 01"

The silver colored ones here are the closest I've been able to find. The one on my car, that is not holding anymore, is black and without the extra flat flaps these VW ones have.

The part gets inserted into the chassis straight in and partially locks into place with spring tension. The screw getting threaded into it spreads it apart further locking it in.

Here is the badly bent out of shape, no longer holding, prestole cage nut. Anyone have a part#? Approximately 7/16" x 9/16"

Cool that you found the right nut., Interesting that it is not listed in the 986 PET. I downloaded the 996 PET and looked for it as well since these cars are virtually identical up front and underneath. At least on the 996 version it shows the duct, which it doesn't show on the 986 version. Still the nut itself doesn't seem to be shown or listed.

Here is the 996 relevant PET pages

Okay, I think I found the actual nut. It is shown in the PET in the radiator section since it resides in the radiator support bracket.

old # 999 507 590 02

It has been replaced with a new PN 99959162901 captive nut

After looking at the actual location in the car it looks like the rad has to be removed to get at the spot.

Funny how the cheapest part is also the hardest one to find AND to actually install!

I need to replace my driver side (left) radiator after finding a pin hole while cleaning the rads this weekend (ARGG!) The leak was so slow that I thought it was just vapour loss and top up was minuscule, so after cleaning the rads the leak is bigger () so I'll bite the bullet and replace the rad. Thats the bad news. The good news is I'll be able to replace that 'captive nut' and install the duct properly
