Since this is going to be building it as he gets money we are using an assembly lube instead of oil. If It were going to be completed soon I would assemble with oil.

Wow...what you are doing here is great. I was just having the discussion at work yesterday about how the youth in this country doesn't know how to fix anything. Its super concerning. I did a similar project with my son, we disassembled a totaled GT3 but we didn't put it back together (best father son thing we ever did). But what you are doing takes it to a new level.
Some folks may say you are lucky to have a son who is straight A's and seems to have fantastic curiosity, but in my book it ain't luck...its great parenting and a great role model. Congrats!
I look forward to following the project to completion!

I loved this project too! So cool that your son had such big interest in seeing this engine fire up! Thanks for sharing. I'd be interested to know how you would describe this project for those of us who have not removed and rebuilt an M96. Would you embark down this road again, and curious if you ran into any big challenges. What a lifetime memory you two will have!

I have had several of the Knowledge Grouppe classes so I didn’t go into this cold. I can’t reccomend the classes enough. The biggest thing is document, document, document, pictures, pictures, pictures!!!!!!! He is a great kid. He has his own work bench in my gun shop now. He’s coming along well with that too now.
