Does your 986 uses any oil? Is this normal oil consumption?

Does your 986 uses any oil? Is this normal oil consumption?
I´m about to buy my first Boxster(2.5L 986) after a bunch off 944s. I´m looking at a 1998 with 78 000 miles on it(125 000 km). The owner says that it uses about 0,6 L oil every 4000 miles(6 500 km).
Is that ok/normal?
The owner never top up the oil, but he can see that the digtal oil reader in the dash sinks beetween the oil changes. The level on the digital reader goes down to about 1/2 before it´s time for a new oil change. He changes the oil every 10 000 km.

(As an aside, while not quite apples to apples, my 2002 Boxster uses less oil in 5K miles than my 2003 Turbo. Both engines get filled with the same oil and both get the same oil change interval (every 5K miles) and both get driven the same. My Boxster and its engine has covered over 305K miles and the Turbo and its engine has covered just 148K miles. However, I'm not worried about the Turbo's oil consumption. It is still well within what Porsche considers ok -- see below -- and unless it gets really bad -- and I don't expect it will - I'm not worried.)
Porsche says an oil consumption can be as low (as bad?) as 1l per 1000km (approx. 1 quart every 620 miles?) and still be acceptable, albeit barely acceptable. Any less consumption has to be ok and 0.6l of oil every 4500 miles is certainly less oil consumption and that ain't bad.
If you can believe/trust the seller regarding the oil consumption, and it doesn't sound far fetched -- and if the car checks out via thorough test ride then test drive and a PPI finds no serious deal killing issues I can't see rejecting the car for its oil consumption.
'course, if the oil consumption bothers you then you need to seek out a car that uses less oi.
Trouble is being able to count on the numbers you are told. And there is how you drive the car. You may drive the car in a manner that results in more oil consumption than the previous owner experienced.

No and you have many other more dire issues to investigate ! Doubtless the PPI will reveal them.

I have owned 2 986 base and 1 986S in the last 13 years. All 3 cars burned a little bit of oil, but never more than 1-2 bars below the post-oil change fill line on the digital gauge over a 5,000 mile interval.
