Default Just bought a 986 for a track-day car.

I am new to this forum having been an active participant in the 951/ 944 forums for years I just bought a base Boxster which I'm going to turn into a dedicated track-day tool. It will have to be streetable, as I have to drive it to and fro the track, but it will be as track focused as possible.

I'm looking forward to learning from you all.

My son did exactly that. I was pushing him to s 944, all the Porsche mechanics told him boxster.

He's put headers and exhaust on, motons, camber plates, spherical bearings, race seats, 6 point harnesses, gt3 brake cooling ducts and cool carbon track pads. Because he's so tall, he runs it on track with the hardtop

It's a sweet little car on track. I was so impressed- I bought one too!

grrrmonster - let your son know that BK makes low profile mounting hardware for seats. it lowers the driver a LOT.

boxster is a GREAT track car.....especially with a 3.4L ;-)

I'm tall too, and my butt is wide I have bought the only seat that will fit me. I doubt the BK adapters wil fit such a wide seat. Has anyone made their own brackets?

there is an option i have seen from a racing company (i want to say hergesheimer) where the seat mounts that are spot welded to the floor can be removed & then replaced with some custom mounts that get the driver quite a bit lower than even the BK kit. i would imagine, since this basically exposes the floor pan, that all manner of widths could be managed.

That would be lovely. I would like to know who makes these so I can buy a set.
