Unhappy Battery draining

Car stood all sad and alone last winter as I was in the far east having fun. Battery flatter than a witches tit on return so charged it up, but it didn't hold a charge and only put out 12 and a bit V. New battery installed. But after a week of non use, flat, grrrrrrrrrrr. No lights on, key out etc, grrrrrrrrrrr.
Charged it up, great held 13.5V turned car over, 14 odd volts pumping thru, great. switched off car, locked door, opened frunk, flipped latch to fool it into thinking it was locked. Connected Multimeter to neg post, disconnected, strap and the bomb dropped. It was drawing 730 ma. Tested the wifes civic, that drew 20, Houston........
So who's been down this road and what did you do.
Everything is stock, 2000 S.

Follow up. Checked all fuses, no drop in amperage when any removed. When locking car manually I get 1 beep and only the drivers door locks and the fuel cap stays unlocked. All doors closed, both trunks closed, nothing on internally/open......center dash lock switch works fine.

Sounds like a real head scratcher! Wish I could offer some help. I had a similar problem years ago in a 1980 Z28 however that was a much simpler car in a much simpler time!
Sounds like you're on the right track though with something funny going on with the locking, seems like it thinks something is open when you lock it.
Good luck with the troubleshooting and keeps us posted.

Given what you wrote, I suspect something with the car's security system is responsible for the battery drain problem.

When my 2002 Boxster was manifesting various symptoms, among them briefly sounding the horn when locking the car even though nothing was ajar, the tech connected the diagnostic computer to the car and queried the security module for errors. They pointed to the door lock assembly/module and with the door panel removed so he could do some more tests it was indeed this.

In your car's case then this might be the way to go to diagnose what is going on.

It could be a component failure, like a door lock assembly/controller, a door handle or latch switch.

I take it the door bottoms are dry? There is no signs of dampness under the seats? The security module is located on the floor of the cabin under the passenger seat.

The body water drains are free of any debris?

With a car that has sat unused for a long period of time there is always the concern about rodent infestation. The critters live to gnaw and they'll gnaw through hoses, heavy rubber sheeting that makes up the radiator ducts, scrape fuzz from the carpets, gnaw through the plastic A/C vent hoses, gnaw through the gasoline vapor return line, and gnaw the insulation from wiring.

You have to carefully inspect the car for any signs of rodent sign and run a close eye over all wiring you can see. Expose the engine and look on top of the engine for any rodent sign.

You may have to remove the seats and what you can of the interior carpeting to inspect the wiring in the cabin.

Car has been inside my garage all the time. I think the next step is that I will have to take it to a Porsche specialist, fortunetly theres one near me, Williams Crawford in Saltash. Its due a minor service so I guess 2 birds with one stone?

That's why I said it "thinks" something is open, maybe a contact on one of the trunks or doors is bad.
Keep in mind that there may be no glovebox but the lid on the centre console has a contact and must be closed when locking the car.
Just throwing stuff out there.

Fixed. Bad connection on the IGN switch. It thought the key was still in when I tried to lock the car. That and the microswitch in the centre bin wasn't working.
